Hey, future world leaders!

Since the last dev blog, we’ve announced that we will be releasing Simplomacy as an open beta so we can actively develop it alongside your feedback, as we did with our first game, the well-known text-based life simulator. We don’t yet have a go-live date for this, but as soon as we do – you will all know!

Since the last development blog, we’ve been hard at work, so let’s jump into it!

Buildings
  • Added the foundations of ‘buildings’
  • Added the 7 wonders of the world to their respective countries
  • Added the top 10 famous volcanoes to their respective countries
Characters
  • Generating a random character now takes into account the country’s female leader chance
  • Added more depth to political ideologies
Countries/territories
  • Added a search bar to the countries list
  • When viewing countries, countries you are at war with are now highlighted in red
Relations
  • Tweaked starting relations between some countries
Research
  • Added the foundations to research
Resources
  • Added military drones to countries
  • Changed resource news article icon
War
  • Added battles between AI countries
  • Added war declaration between countries with poor relations
  • Added 1974 Turkish invasion of Cyprus
Worldbuilding
  • Added the Doomsday Clock (certain actions increase/decrease the clocks time)
world leaders
  • Added a new page to view world leader details (instead of a pop-up)
  • Added the ability to chat with world leader AI (may not make release due to lack of gameplay integration/financial reasons)
  • Added the ability for clashing ideologies between world leaders to worsen relations
  • Added over 10 new personality traits for world leaders
  • Added over 10 new political ideologies for world leaders
  • A world leader’s facial expression now gives a hint of their opinion of you

  • Reworked how personality traits are implemented (easier to add and manage)
  • Reworked how political ideologies are implemented (easier to add and manage)
  • Added more social media posts
  • Upgraded Unity version to 2021.3.23f1
bug fixes
  • Fixed military comparison outline missing
  • Fixed Myanmar names
  • Fixed Nepal’s flag
  • Fixed portrait bug with uninhabited countries
