Simplomacy Dev Log #2

Hi everyone!

A week has passed already since our first dev blog! This isn’t to mean that these are always going to come out weekly, but I’m currently bored on my sofa so thought I would give you all another update on our progress.

Before we jump into it, we just want to say a massive thank you to everyone who has followed us on Twitter (@simplomacy), as today we hit the 1,000-follower mark! To think this is all without a logo, icon, and not many screenshots, it’s pretty mad.

Right, back to business. Since our last dev blog, we’ve added:

  • over 80 new resources
  • 3 events
  • Resource marketplace
  • Resources UI tweak
  • World leader personality

New Resources

This is pretty self-explanatory. Some of the resources that we have added are: Shark meat, Opium, and Electronic Chips. Make of this what you will.

New Events

These events are based around resources and deliver oil, coal, etc to random territories which can provoke neighboring territories with leaders who have certain personality types.

Resource Marketplace

As an example, if you have a lot of gold that you want to sell quickly to free up some funds, you can sell the gold to the marketplace. The gold that you sell to the marketplace then becomes available to buy for other countries around the world.

Alternatively, if another country sells some of its resources to the marketplace, said resources will become available to you – at a higher price than it would be if you were to deal with the country/leader directly to strike up a trade deal.

Resources UI tweak

When viewing the resources menu, it now shows how many unique resources are owned in the categories via an amount to the right of the category.

World leader personality

We’ve now started assigning personalities to different leaders around the world. The personality traits give you an idea of the sort of person they are. Currently, we have:

  • Chatterbox
  • Flirtatious
  • Fun
  • Gossiper
  • Loose Cannon
  • Kind
  • Nuker
  • Paranoid
  • Peacekeeper
  • Resource Hungry
  • Warmonger

And our current policy traits are:

  • Capitalist
  • Environmentalist
  • Progressive
  • Traditional

If you have any suggestions on what traits/personality types you would like in the game, let us know!

When these have been assigned to a leader, it currently shows like this:
